We got out of the comforts of our air conditioned office, and we sat around a bonfires lit in the assembly area of Miracle Studios Office Campus.

Then we danced to the thumping beats of Punjabi Dhol with some of the favorite bollywood tunes playing in the background, everyone circled around the bon fire and offered til (sesame seeds), gud (jiggery)  and ground nuts to the blistering flames of the bon fire, praying for the prosperity and peace for the upcoming Year -2010 ..

Backdrop :

The farmers in Punjab celebrate this festival because by this  time in January,, their fields are ready for reaping the Rabi crops. It also indicates the beginning of a new month in context with the Hindu calendar.
